Gil serves as Senior Vice President for Integral Mission with World Relief where he leads the Integral Mission Division which seeks to influence and equip the global church for integral mission and also support World Relief’s frontline activity through the creation of resources, tools, programs, and theological advice. Previously he also served as the Global Director for PEACE Implementation with Saddleback Church in Lake Forest, California. He has more than thirty years of ministry experience as missionary, pastor, educator, and leader.
For the past 20 years he has progressively immersed himself in community development and the role of the church. He is a researcher and practitioner with deep experience and knowledge gained through hands-on involvement and doctoral research in the wholistic ministry task of the church. Gil deeply believes that all our social and technical interventions in the field of development must have gospel implications and all our gospel proclamation must have social ramifications.
Gil currently serves as chairperson for the Accord Network in the USA and also serve as board member for the Micah Global Network. He holds professional memberships in a number of organizations including the American Anthropological Association (AAA); Society for Intercultural Education, Training and Research (SIETAR); Association for Africanist Anthropology; International AIDS Society (IAS), The Global Health Council (GHI). In 2017 InterVarsity Press published his work, Standing with the Vulnerable: A Curriculum for Transforming Lives and Communities.
